"Signature Manager" needs more password rights options.
The Dentrix Enterprise “Signature Manager” needs additional security. We are a multi-location, many provider practice, and the tool as it stands has two big issues:
1) Everyone with the security rights to “modify clinical notes” can view all unsigned clinical notes in this window without opening a patient chart. So, sensitive PHI can be explored by a curious user without any sort of audit trail. Yikes!
2) Any provider with rights to sign clinical notes who is not paying close attention, can sign off any and all clinical notes for all providers at every location simultaneously. We have had this happen before. All of the notes that were signed in error then have to be appended. It is a big mess. There is a chance that this could happen and go unnoticed for a time because providers usually concern themselves with notes not yet signed, not those that are.
We would like the “Signature Manager” module only available to the users we select (separate security from other clinical note rights) and only want it to allow the provider to whom clinical notes belong to sign them in bulk. Without these enhancements, it is too risky to use and its mere, inadequately-secure existence has us always worried.
