We have a really hard time moving family members out of family files. We have had our system since 2009 and so many people in families become 18+, divorce, custody issues, split up, no longer under so and so's insurance...etc. There are many valid reasons for someone to no longer be attached to a family group - or need to move to a different family group.
For divorced and split families with custody issues this becomes a MAJOR HIPAA violation! Reminder calls, statements and recall cards end up going to incorrect people!
We post our no shows and cancels to the ledger for reporting purposes and that counts as a transaction that inhibits the move. Really frustrating. Don't even get me started on the HL7 issues joined in with this that complicates it more.
