TOO MANY Insurance companies - Why not have the family file retain the group # and let individual insurance profiles stand alone.
The biggest reason we have so many insurances seems to relate primarily on needing 1 for every separate group. If that is the case, why not have the Insurance stand alone and anything specific to the patient (Subscriber ID or Group #) stay in their family file. Right now we have over 8000 insurance profiles (and 45 different ways to spell Met Life)
So the Family File would have a spot for Primary insurance & Group & Subscriber ID & ...
1 Unique Insurance Address & Fee schedule. So if you have clinics that have Met Life but fall under 3 fee schedules, then have 3 Insurance, 1 for each fee schedule...
