Different Insurance Payment Types
Currently enterprise only has 1 insurance payment type; "Insurance Payment". This works fine for checks and most EFTs, but many smaller insurance companies are now using payment handlers like Zelis payments ( https://www.zelispayments.com/ ).
The problem arises in that companies like Zelish take a portion of the payment prior to EFT ( service charge ), so for accounting purposes we need to know where that particular payment came from.
Currently we post a 0 payment, then post a patient payment type we created for that purpose ( Zelis ), but this causes the system not to update the benefit balances table.
Ideally, Dentrix would allow for additional Insurance Payment types so we could post an insurance payment that is catagorized under Zelis ( or whatever additional types we specify ), giving us the ability to auto-update the benefits table as well as track specific payment sources for insurance payments.
This is becoming a greater need as more insurance companies transition to payment services ( like zelle ) or virtual credit cards.
